Advantages of Sitebuilders

All are not equal

Not all sitebuilders are created equal. Some are intuitive, some are not. Some are easy to customize and some aren't. Some produce much more attractive sites than others. Yet others just plain suck. Other than creating a site from a blank slate there are going to be limitations when using a template driven sitebuilder. If you're creative you usally can find a work around, other times you'll just have to accept it as good but not great and move on, all the time remembering you're saving a bucket of money doing it yourself.

Template or WYSIWYG

Template sitebuilders are quicker in my opinion. Having built sites from scratch with a WYSIWYG sitebuilder and with template and block sitebuilders, I found my sites from scratch were not professional looking enough to ever satisfy me. Maybe I'm just too self conscious. Menus are much harder doing them yourself as opposed to picking a menu "block" that satifies both your needs and aesthetics. I was recently thinking of returning to a WYSIWYG, then I found Kopage and I quickly changed my mind.

Google & the Masters

It doesn't have to be that hard. Web masters and designers would have you believe that only coded sites will function correctly or won't rank well in searches. I can honestly say I've had sites in the number one Google slot built with sitebuilders. And these rankings were with natural searches, so it can be done but you have to put in the work to get good search results but more importantly you have to keep your site fresh and active to be relevant. All of the meta tags need to be done and as always content is king.

Advantage Kopage

I have to endorse Kopage. If you do choose to jump in, I would recommend giving a go to Kopage, which is what this site is built on. This is a sales pitch and an honest opinion, I've tried at least a dozen different sitebuilders over the last 20 years and Kopage is the easiest most intuitive I have ever used and is why I chose to promote it. It's not overly complicated, and everything just works the way you would expect it to. I was building on this site almost immediately, adding content, making a logo, adding pages, it all just seemed to click and I was pleasantly surprised by it's ease of use.
